What we learn in the holidays!

Kids seem to have got the knack of fishing and learnt that using the rod is not always the best way to catch fish. Iman and Jack hung out on the jetty and using lines and bait managed to catch quite a few fish - their most successful outing yet!

In the meantime Ayden had the pool all to himself!

Jack "What Makes You Beautiful"

First there was the Justin Bieber craze, now they're on to One Direction. No points for guessing who is behind all this. How she manages it I just don't know! And Jack, when he get's a bit more tech savy, I think he will do anything to get his hands on my password. Enjoy... I think it's very sweet!

Brunei 6-8 yrs Swim Championships 2012

Another afternoon spent in the heat with Iman and Jack yesterday. We weren't sure how the afternoon was going to turn out especially for Jack who is so new to all this. And surprisingly it was probably the best afternoon the McCarthys have had for a competition. Iman being the oldest in her group did very well winning four gold medals for 50m fly, 25m fly, 25m free, 25m back and a silver for 25m breast. Jack too did well getting 3 silvers for 25m fly, free and back and a bronze for 25m breast. Both were over the moon!

Brunei's Best

It's going to be a record week for jungle walks for me this week. Three so far with one more to go. Always something to see, capture and share.

Football Fever

It's finals night for the HB Trophy and the kids are camped out in their grandparents room to watch the game with the whole family. Hoping for a Brunei win!

Another visit to JPMC

Ayden slipped and cut his cheek on a table at school this morning resulting in another glueing episode. He's chuffed to be getting the rest of the day off and even tried for tomorrow too. I'd like to say he's going to sit quiet for the rest of the day but we are talking about Ayden here!

Dinner fit for Grandad McCarthy

Dinner tonight - mince stew & mash - is a regular at the McCarthy household in Cork and one that the kids usually lap up. Judging by the amount they all had tonight, we clearly need to have it here more often. Grandad, I think even you would approve!

Little Carer

Last weekend Iman was pretty much immobile due to her knee so we were at home literally the whole weekend which was pretty unusual for us. Back to school on Monday, Ayden's class were asked for the first time to write what they did for the weekend and he wrote (without help!) :

Friday Football

This post is long overdue. Iman and the boys have regularly been going to Coach Frank's Friday afternoon sessions. It's an hour of proper football coaching and the kids can't get enough of it. Disco once again!

Dress theme for this year's Junior School Disco was dressing up as your future. We suggested doctors, engineers, bankers but the boys were only interested in going as rock stars and they weren't short of those in the room!

Iman initially wanted to go as an Irish rugby player but Fatin was less than impressed with her gear and dressed her up as a hippy instead!
