With Hari Raya (End of Ramadhan) only one week away, the early evening peace is frequently broken by the rattle and bangs of crackers and fireworks. Our kids are guilty of this, especially Jack and Ayden who are displaying a severe addiction to bunga api. Their main supplier is the big kid Amin who is only too eager to indulge in his favorite festive activity. It has taken Donncha sevaral years to come round to the idea of having fireworks readily available and in your back garden but even he is starting to enjoy it and has been frequenting firework stalls regularly... for the children of course!
Jack is no stranger to pop pop showing Ayden how to make maximum noise!
What shall we play next? I'm thinking bedtime kids!

This reminds me of a Raya night a couple of years ago when I and my wife purchased a couple of "serious-but-legal" fireworks - the kind that shoot out of several barrels in a box and bloom in the sky. Although the projectiles shot cleanly from the front yard and exploded a safe distance away, the burnt bits literally rained on the aluminium roof of our home. You can imagine the racket that had caused, aside from the big "Kabooms!" This went on for one full minute. Me and Wifey just stared at each other - speechless - but our two daughters were giggling. I guess we underestimated the scale of the fireworks. But it was a moment in which we were all like little kids enjoying the festivities. I gave away the second box, LoL.
Hi Zonaldo, that's a nice story. For now we're sticking to the small stuff but we'll see closer to Raya. You'll be having a quiet one this year....we'll be thinking of you and your sis.
